Now that you have decided to have hardwood floor installed, what happens next?

Knowing what you should expect before, during, and after the installation takes place will help make sure that everything goes smoothly.

Once you have visited Tony’s Flooring Centre and have chosen the beautiful hardwood floor or perhaps that special luxurious carpet for your home, you might think that there’s nothing much you need to do. Well, it is true that our team will take care of the installation. However, it wouldn’t hurt to prepare your home for the arrival of the installers, right?

To help you out, we have prepared for you this checklist that aims to get you ready for your upcoming floor installation:

*Remove all breakables in the room and in the adjoining rooms as well. Yes, even the frames, mirrors, and other décor that you might have on your walls.

*Plan how you will get all the appliances and furniture out of the rooms in the house where you’d have the new flooring installed.

*Ask for a professional to have your gas appliances and your electronics safely disconnected.

*Check if you need to adjust the doors if there’s going to be a change in the floor height. If you overlook this, you might have a problem opening and closing the doors later on.

*Remove all the curtains and drapes.

*Remove and store away all the items that you have in closets and cabinets where the new floors would be installed.

*Make sure that you clean the floors prior to the installation of new floors.

*Prepare an area outside where your installers can do all the necessary cutting, reshaping, and other preparations needed for your floor installation. Ideally, this space would have sufficient space so the installers would be comfortable working even when it gets a little hot during the day. Also ensure that there’s a working electrical outlet in the area.

*Finally, let your family know of the expected timeframe for this flooring job so they can adjust their activities accordingly. You might want to consider having your family, especially your kids move in with relatives or friends until the installation is done.

No matter what type of flooring you’re going to have installed, it would be very wise to follow these preparation tips. Once you are done with these, you can be sure that your trusted Toronto floor installers from Tony’s Flooring Centre will be ready to take over and have your perfect floor ready for you in no time!
