Advantages of Ceramic Flooring
Tiles can be used for a variety of surfaces in the home, including living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms. They can be applied to a fireplace hearth or to create a welcoming foyer.
Ceramic tiles last longer than most other flooring and wall covering materials.
You may need to apply a sealant every four years or so, depending on the manufacturer’s instructions, but other than that, ceramic tile only requires regular cleaning to keep them looking their best.
The surface is easy to keep clean. Just sweep and vacuum a floor, and wash the tiles regularly with water. If you want to use a cleaning product on ceramic flooring, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
If properly installed and grouted, these tiles can be used in wet areas. Porcelain tiles have a less than 0.5 percent moisture absorption rate, making them impervious to water.
Ceramic tiles are a great choice for kitchens and bathrooms, where high sanitary conditions are important.
Ceramic tiles do not burn. They do not give off smoke or toxic fumes.
To help prevent slipping, ceramic tiles can be treated in one of two ways. The first method is to add an abrasive grit to the glaze. The second method is to create a tile with a texture on its surface that resembles studs, ribs, or an orange peel finish.
Porcelain tiles and vitreous ceramic tiles are frost resistant and can be used out of doors. A properly-laid ceramic floor will not break, even when exposed to extreme temperatures.
Repairing ceramic tile is relatively easy. Remove the broken pieces and clean the area. Install replacement tiles and re-grout the area. The process will take less time than repairing a hardwood or plank flooring. If you decide to install a ceramic tile floor, do keep a few extra tiles in case you need to make some repairs later on.
