How to Give your Room a Fall Makeover

1. Remove accessories with a summer theme.

Take a look around the room and take out anything that reminds you of the beach or summer. If you bought accent pillows with a nautical theme or decided to hang up wall accents with shells, anchors, netting, fish, boats or anything else that makes you think of fun in the sun, it is time to take it down. 2.      Add a brightly coloured area rug. A quick and easy way to add warmth and texture to your room is to cover your hardwood, tile or laminate floor with an area rug. This solution is also relatively inexpensive and can be used in just about any room in your home, with the exception of the kitchen or bathroom. You can even brighten up your hallway by adding a decorative hall runner in an interesting pattern. 3. Replace the entire floor, if need be. If the flooring has seen better days and you want to give your room a lift, replace it with something more modern. Pull up your tired-looking carpet and replace it with new plush floor covering you can sink down in that will make you feel warm and comfortable on even the coldest days. If allergies are a concern in your household, you may want to opt for a hardwood or a laminate floor instead and cover it with hypoallergenic area rug made from natural fibres. 4. Keep blankets and throws within easy reach. Blankets and throws shouldn’t be kept hiding in a closet. Bring them out and drape them over the back of a sofa or the arm of a chair. Place them at the foot of the bed so that they are ready when needed. They give a splash of colour to your room and add another layer of texture over the winter months. 5. Bring the outside into your home with decorating accessories. There are many fall-themed accessories you can bring into your home to add colour and texture to your home. Pumpkins, berries and leaves, either genuine or artificial, can be used to decorate your table and mantle. Artwork can be larger and heavier for this season if you are looking to move something from another part of your home or buy a new piece.
